Welcome to the North Tasmania Lutheran Parish.

We are a parish made up of three congregations in the northern part of Tasmania. These are Burnie, Devonport and Launceston. Burnie and Launceston hold weekly Sunday services and Devonport holds services fortnightly.

Lutherans are one of the largest protestant denominations of the Christian faith. Lutheranism began in 1517, with the publication of Martin Luther’s 95 Theses, beginning the era of Protestant Reformation. In the words of the classic Lutheran summary of faith, we believe that we are saved ‘by grace, for Christ’s sake, through faith‘. In other words, there is nothing we can do to earn God’s favour or to gain eternal life. Through his death and resurrection, Jesus Christ has won all this and more for us.

There is only one true God – the Triune God – who exists in three separate but equal persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. He is the God who reaches down to man and through faith in Him alone are we saved.

Facebook

Practising members in Tasmania are invited to join the ‘Lutherans in Tasmania’ Facebook group, which provides a means of sharing event notices, billboard messages, inspiration and in-house notes.

As the group is in-house, it is open only to residents of Tasmania who attend the services and also for past members who may still have an interest in the church in Tasmania, via family and friends. Click on the icon above.
